I am new to exrTrader. I am trying to figure out how to use it with Fusion 5. I would really like to be able to get a preset setup that will output all the layers that are used in the this tutorial: http://www.db-w.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,84/func,fileinfo/id,28/The manual only says this about Fusion 5: “Fusion 5 Reads RGBA and "deep" channels, R, G, B, A, Z, pixelCover, objectI materialID, U, V, NX, NY, NZ, velX, velY Any channel of the file may be assigned to any of the deep channels used Fusion 5, a channel may only be assigned once (a known bug in Fusion 5.01)” Can some one explain how to assign a channel to a deep channel? Also what does “a channel may only be assigned once mean? Also there is some mention of tutorials on how to use exrTrader depth values in DF5 in this forum post: http://www.db-w.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,108/topic,146.0Where these ever made? I am in the middle of a project and would really like to figure this out before final render and compositing, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry, I'll set one up for you, unless somebody beats me to it... The manual only says this about Fusion 5: “Fusion 5 Reads RGBA and "deep" channels, R, G, B, A, Z, pixelCover, objectI materialID, U, V, NX, NY, NZ, velX, velY Any channel of the file may be assigned to any of the deep channels used Fusion 5, a channel may only be assigned once (a known bug in Fusion 5.01)”
Can some one explain how to assign a channel to a deep channel? Also what does “a channel may only be assigned once mean?
Open the EXR files in Fu5, in the loader you will see an extra tab (Format?) that allows you to pick the channels present in the EXR file and assign it to any of the internal deep channels used by Fusion 5. The default names of exrTrader channels match the expected names though. Unfortunately, not all buffers are available in LW... Currently you can assign a channel of the EXR file only to one channel in F5, you can't for example assign the EXR channel "Red" to Reg, Green and Blue in Fu5, this will result in a reading error in Fu5. I believe the next release of Fu5 will fix this. Our bad...no, they weren't. There is a tutorial from one of our users coming up on CGChannel though... Cheers, Mike
