Title: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: born on February 23, 2009, 04:19:57 PM Hello,
those who know our products know that we are working hard on making work-flows more convenient, that we are working hard on new ideas. But like most of the technology oriented companies we like to forget about marketing. ::) We are just not 'all talking' as you know. ;) But honestly we have to do it - we need to come up with more marketing. We need to talk about our success and especially about your success with our products. So that is why I ask you today about your experience with our products exrTrader and infiniMap and our service. Bad or good or so and so, please tell us about your experience here in our forum. We later might get back to some of you and ask you for an official quote that we can publish on our website. For those who like to tell us about their experience more 'privately' just write me a personal message. Thank you in advance! I guess you're not the only ones 'all talking' ;) I am just sorry that I cannot help you with marketing other than saying that if I would actually earn money with Lightwave I would heavily depend on your tools. The problem is just that since about 3 years I make my living using maya and even my personal project which for I actually bought infinimap, I had to postpone. How long it will take till I resume working on it, I don't know. The only thing Lightwave related in my professional life at the moment is my attempt to use it for rendering background landscapes for our current feature animation film "Konferenz der Tiere". The problem here is that I only use HD instance for this. but maybe, if my approach gets approved (only maya users here), I could at least work some exrTrader in (although with HD instance I could only use the beauty and depth). We will see with that. btw. I am using my own LW license and dongle at work, that's how enthusiastic my boss is about LW >:( anyways, hope you guys find more users that use LW and your tools professionally on a daily basis. cu Guillaume Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: Intuition on February 24, 2009, 10:53:49 PM Hello Dagmar, Mike. :D
I love the software that you guys develop alot. So much in fact that I miss it too often. I am making my living in Vray now and sometimes that is in 3dsmax or Maya and at home in XSI. I found Lightwave too cumbersome to work with and have found that my own workflow improved when I left for xsi, max, and maya. Last summer most of my gigs were max and XSi and this year its maya and max. Sometimes mental ray but most often Vray. I'd love to have infinimap or shadermeister in vray. I could see it living in the hypershade window in maya pretty cozy. Well. Maybe this new Lightwave core product will get some people back. ;D Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: born on February 25, 2009, 08:19:47 AM I hear you guys...
And I will give an answer to this quite openly, we have been offering to port our software to several VFX-companies for a quite reasonable price as we think. We just got no answer. The deal is easy - buy a site licence and we are happy to port. To those who wonder what that might cost - take the price of 25 seats of infiniMap- there you are. That might have several reasons: firstly) we might have been talking to the wrong people :o secondly) we are not able to tell the people about the advantages of the use of infiniMap ::) thirdly) there is no real need for it ??? Perhaps you all can help us to find the right arguments... Cheers and thanks again for pushing us.... Dagmar Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: born on February 25, 2009, 09:03:53 AM Just for those who wonder, why I am so picky with this site licence:
When you develop or port a product, you make a more or less intelligent guess on the future sales. You invest in development, support. marketing, etc...You take a financial risk. At the moment we are still too small to just set up a balloon, make a port and then see if we will be able to sell it. That doesn't mean that the ordering of a site licence of infiniMap for Maya or XSI or ...would cover our development costs, no it wouldn't even cover a reasonable part of it, but it would show us there is at least a market and a need. And that is what we need to know to jump on it. I hope I didn't bore you too much with this stuff... ;D Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: kat on March 30, 2009, 05:26:03 PM Lightwave (Cake) Or DEATH!
:) Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketing Post by: born on March 30, 2009, 05:53:55 PM Lightwave (Cake) Or DEATH! :) Kat, you know we are such a bunch of greedy monsters we do anything for money - enough money at least... :o Title: Re: sitting on a bunch of innovations we realised we should do some more marketi Post by: Aljen Hoekstra on July 23, 2009, 01:15:43 PM We bought exrTrader and ShaderMeister a month or so ago to up our game on the compositing side.
We do a lot of high-end video and animation for internet and I've used it on two major projects up until now and I absolutely love it. exTrader gives easy access to multiple passes in a very easy interface. No more hassling with settings and numerous tabs. Making presets is also awesome. I only used ShaderMeister for creating an Ambient Occlusion pass but it does that very easily! |
